Resolved Question: can a father appeal on behalf of his daughter who has given power of attroney to her dad?

My sister-in-law who is in USA for last 7 yrs files for her maintains in thane court.The court rejected her application for maintains saying she never came once to india and wasting the court time.Now her father appeal in high court, mumbai on her behalf as she had given power of attroney to him.I want to know can she appeal like this without coming to India.The divorce case is still going.
